As a result of the previous nights draw Gene,
Pat & Rich were together in Gene's boat, while Vic, Greg
& Brad had Pat's boat (Vic mentioned he was glad to be with
the better two Dagenhardts). Tim, Matt & George
teamed up in George's boat. Off we all went in great
anticipation of a great days fishing.
After a slow morning fishing we met on the usual piece of beach
for a shore lunch of fresh jack, ably prepared by Brad over an
open fire. While chowing down, we spent an hour or
so fishing from shore and just generally hanging out.
Once we all got mobile again, we agreed to meet at Don's Hole,
and had a moment of silence in Don's honor. The action was not
great; Vic figured Don pretty much had fished it out! Later that
day Vic, Greg and Brad spotted two caribou, and watched as they
swam from one point to another. They said it was amazing how
effortlessly they took to the water.
We enjoyed a supper of burgers and fish that night. Although
it turned out to be a slow fishing day, it was still 100% better
than a good day at work! As a matter of interest,
Tim was given the distinguished nickname Sir Schitz-A-Lot. We
figured he mistakenly took Ex-Lax instead of Imodium that morning
as he had a moving experience at every pee break that day.
Vic announced he won his boat's pool for first fish that day
and pocketed a cool $2. Then he proceeded to regularly win for
the rest of the week! We finally figured out by the end of the
trip that he had used the same fish every day. Our evidence was
how it smelled after five days in his pocket. Vic
kept close tabs on payments. By the end of the week only Matt
hadn't paid, but Vic figured he wasn't worth a dollar anyway. |
