Crews:
Gene / Joe / Rich;
Matt / Brad / Vic;
Tim / Nick / Geo;
Pat / Andy / Greg
As usual we cut cards to mix up the boat crews. Vic said "Gene
is the boss of his boat!" I wonder how he will like that
when he draws that card

The water level of the lake was just fine,
there was very little pushing required by the boat monkeys this
year! I got lucky and brought in the 1st fish in our boat, a
lake trout caught while trolling a shelf.
The weather was great, and we met for a nice shore lunch of Jack
& Lake Trout.
In the afternoon as we trolled for Trout off Vic's island Gene
saw a Caribou on the island bank. It didn't seem to like us and
quickly disappeared into the trees. Moments later a call came
over the radio, it was in the water, swimming from Vic's island
to mainland. We roared over to take a look and were amazed at
how fast it could move! We got some great pictures and then backed
off to let it reach shore; we didn't want it to tire unnecessarily.

At 2:45 that same afternoon I caught my biggest
trout ever, 32" long and weighted 8 ¾ lbs, making
me a very happy camper indeed as you can see from the picture! |
Later that afternoon it was obvious I need
to give better directions over the radio. Pat asked where we
were; I grabbed the radio and blurted out 'east of shore'. Pat
laughed and asked 'which shore?' I immediately answered 'the
one on the right'. (Note to self, engage brain before opening
mouth
).
As we enjoyed smokies & hot dogs for
supper we had to listen to the Oilers lose, BOO Hurricanes.
